Still pondering going the SET route...I've done the CES thing and nothing lights my fire. The money spent to do the SET thing could be spent on the source buget...$5000.00 Vs. $3500.

The best sound I have ever heard come from Don Allen's products. His equipment generally runs less than half of what you are talking about. I have owned a lot of equipment over the years including some of the most expensive amps and preamp available. I prefer the sound I receive from Don's equipment to all of them. For example I have both Conrad Johnson Art II and Don Allen's preamps. I prefer Don's preamp and it only cost $800. I also prefer his preamp over the Wavelength Sine preamp I own. He even has a starter SET amp that sells for around $500 for those that want to get their feet wet. If you do a search for Don Allen the SET Audio Asylum you will find the opinions of others who have used his products.
You might want to look at some thing like these. Great sound, low price. Cheers.
.
They can be made sexier too
That is a great looking Paramount. Is that your work? Cheers,.
Thanks. Sure is my handiwork. The 845's took for ever to complete. I was in industrial design for years so I only know how to build the heck out of things- way overboard that is.
The Paramounts have an oil cap supply with CLC filtering, teflon caps and a tweeked shunt reg. Nice amps for a real bargain price.

Hi.I won't & I don't need to.
Check up my cheapie 2x1W SET amp homebrew project using the cheapest imaginable old used IDH tubes posted in Propeller Head Plaza on Nov 07, 2006. It was found "better" sounding than some very costly brandname SS amps. Dollar for dollar, it was hard to beat, right?
... to see this "wonder machine" and for once hoped to see some of cj's work.Sadly it was not to be assuming of course this is the referenced post he alludes to. Have I got the right post?
And what on earth has this got to do with WAVAC's offerings?
