I just noticed that the ASC motor run oil filled caps that are sold on Ebay and very popular for power supply use are metalized polypropolyne, not metal foil capacitors. Bummer. Does anyone sell large valued (50 ufd and greater) high voltage (370 VAC or greater) metal foil capacitors? I thought I heard rumors that the older ASC 'motor run' caps were of foil (not metalized) construction. Is that true?

If they have, say, a thin spot in the film and the adjacent layers short, the metallization sort of vaporizes and that spot no longer shorts.Don't be hesitant about using MR caps in high-Voltage powersupplies. They sound QUITE good--not edgy/gritty/grungy the way virtually all 'lytics do. I've used them--ASCs, Capacitor Industries, and GEs--in several tubed amps and will do so again. What DC Voltage do you need?
