Hi Dave
How do you like the B-62? I have always wanted to try one. I love your Braun. I have one and it is my favourite 1/4 track deck.
I really like the Braun also, just wish they would have made it take proper 10.5" reels. I love the B62 and I use it mostly for playback of old 1/2 track stereo tapes now. I didn't get the right meter bridge with it and haven't been able to find one so I am tempted to see if a 810 bridge can be modified to work with it. The meter bridge it came with was just a generic one that appears to be home made and doesn't have level controls etc, just meters. The B62 does have a very nice sounding midrange, almost tube sounding....One of these days I will make some kind of cabinet for it instead of just sitting it face up on a chair to use it :)
The ASC machines(as seen in Pulp Fiction?) appear to be Braun machines with a few additional features and capability to use large NAB reels and to play at 7 1/2 and 15 ips. They show up in Europe fairly frequently
Just sold it last year. Wasn't anything at all like the Braun inside though despite the similarities externally....Was built very nicely but wasn't able able to find replacement heads for mine so I sold it for parts only. Also was 220 volt only...
