I got a great playlist to start Christmas day. 1. Sex Pistols "Never Mind the Bullocks". 2. Bruckner's 4th Symphony. 3. Clash "London Calling" 4. Beethoven's "Fidelio" "Lenore Overture" III from an amazing recording of the NY Met conducted by Bernard Haitink (sp?), from the radio. James Brown, May he rest in peace. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Follow Ups:
Cleveland Orchestra Christmas concerts, with the capstone being the full 1988 concert with Robert Page conducting. The Children's Chorus and the brass of the orchestra are especially stellar! On Maxell MX tape off of WCLV FM stereo, in Dolby C on Nak 682 ZX. Sound is very extended with great presence and hall sound. And, Teresa, it's analog.
Also played "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Non-Stop Polka's" both cassette collections. Later I plan to play some Franklin Mint LPs.Sadly no Reel to Reels today as my pinch roller was just resurfaced and is on its way back to me UPS.
Got those on LP, and lots of others. A Handel Messiah LP with Sargent (old Angel stereo, red with silver angel) was amazing.
Just picked up Fresh Aire Christmas for 50 cents at a thrift shop on cassette.. Nice stuff
BC edition of Bernard Herrmann Symphony right now. But I've got a few Mercury 1/2 tracks for later( Coland-Rodeo/Dorati,Albeniz-Iveria/Dorati,Carpenter-Adventures in a Perambultor/Hanson,Debussy-Iberia/Afternood of a Faun/Paray) that I've been saving.
Have a great Xmas guys!

Hey Ray, hope you had a great Xmas! I'll keep my eye out for that one. The chorus I was in at the University of Georgia/Athens used to do one program a year with Shaw. It was a great experience and he was a real swell guy. Believe me when I say that I've worked with some directors that the mere thought of, still scares me!
Thanks! Whoops! Made an error! Holy Holy Holy is by the Roger Wagner Chorale on Capital. The Robert Shaw tape is Handel's Messiah on RCA. Shaw's version is much faster pace. I also have the Mozart arrangement of Handel's Messiah. I love choral music. Can't beat a good choir recorded in a nice acoustic space! I graduated from UGA also. Class of 1972. Ray
