My Usher Audio AC-20's are due to arrive in 2wks. Visit the www.usheraudio.com site to gain some insight into the brand, parts selection, and design thoughts. Introduced at CES 2002,, they sparked much interest and raves. At CES 2003, more than a few Hi-End amp mfg., will be using Usher's to highlight their gear. Their premium cabinet build and finish, driver and crossover design, and value should gain lots of attention in the years to come!Jack
Follow Ups:
Jack,Would be interested to know how do they compare with your beloved VR-5 HSE.
You seemed to have gone from gushing over AVS creations and now are on to Usher ( who were at one point under pending lawsuit by Scan Speak for pirating the SD-1 technology, may have settled by now, or not )Enthusiasm is good, but like most things needs to be used in moderation.
I can gush all day about Usher, Coincident, Audes, Spendor, and a few other models that bring tremendous value relative to sound reproduction and cost. The Von Schweikert's may be at the top of the heap, with the DB100's getting the "best of 2002" nod from ETM and, for under $10K. Their I go,, gushing again!Jack
Look a lot like sonus faber knock offs .
Dont they have some claim to fame, some famous designer, doing their stuff ?
Is it Joe D'Appolito ??
The guy from Platinum Audio, Phil jones is over there too, something about the cheap labor ??
Or is it the closeness to Buddah ??
This is nothing new, yawn.
Parasound got john curl , Infinity got Floyd toole, Ho hum.
I guess I am just a jaded audiophile who has seen it all, ho hum/
They may very well be quite good, please let us know when you get them.
Yawn
May be cheap labor, ect, but the bottom line is they do some serious hurt to some big names. Not only are they not even close to looking like Sonus Farbers, but they sound better. This constant issue of them being similar to the Amatis,is because very few people have actualy seen them.Other than the fact they are made of REAL wood,is all that is close to the Amatis..Other than the possible skimping on the crossover, everything in these speakers is first rate.An modification by a qualified tech puts these babies right up on the top of with the bad boys.
