I recommend the Vandersteen 3A Sig's. They're non-fatiguing, image great, and have that bass you're missing. A big step up from your old 2C's...I'm content with my pair - driven with either a Music Reference RM-9 Mk2 or a BEL 1001 Mk5 amp, and you know the Vandy's are easy to drive.

I do not know your amps, but the 3A sigs are definitely in a different class, I myself upgraded from the 2Cs. No regrets. These speakers can throw a huge space, and they do have the Vandersteen signature sound. Give them an audition. If you are lucky you can get a used pair for about 2.5K or you can buy a 3A and pay 850 for the upgrade. either way you should come out with the same price. Good luck.
The suggestions regarding Vandersteen's are much appreciated. However, one of the reasons I replaced my 2Cs was that they're too big for my room, and of course the 3s are even larger. I did hear the current version of the 2s and loved them, but esthetically they just won't work for me in my present living room.
sorry, go the sub route :-)
