Although it feels like it's somewhat of a travesty on this forum to admit using SS, I'm wondering how that tweeter would mesh with SS gear. Also, would the AV-1 be better for SS gear?
Follow Ups:
I'm happy using mine with my Sim 5080 integrated amp and a Dan Wright modded Pioneer front end, but that may be just me. Everyone's ears/musical tastes/rooms/front ends/cables are different. While someone may answer "Yes, That Combination Will Work", there are just too many variables to take that as an absolute statement. My setup really started to click when the Rava sub was dropped in.good luck

I'd probably be matching up with either a 7 channel Sherbourn, Outlaw or Denon receiver. Also comparing these to the ACI Emerald. Thanks for the opinions!
I think the P1 will "speak" the truth about your front end.
I tried the Paradox 1 with NAD mid-fi integrateds and it sounded awesome. The NAD's preamp is really shoddy, but somehow the Paradox avoids the worst features of the NAD sound - bloated bass, lack of high-freq resolution, and slightly grainy midrange - and yields a great presentation. As Cut-Throat has said, the sound readily increases with the level of electronics one puts behind it. The tweeter is very well-tamed, and I was expecting more forwardness when using SS gear, but that did not happen. You may want to avoid wiry-sounding Japanese electronics, but I've no first-hand experience with such a combo. With warm-sounding SS electronics, it should sound fine.I didn't like the AV-1's tweeter due to its lack of bite and forwardness; I would use it in HT setups for this reason, but not for music. However, some prefer its tonal balance, so it really depends on your personal preference. The Paradox's tweeter was about right with the NAD, maybe even a tiny bit tame, considering. The NAD is not forward-sounding SS, so your mileage may vary depending on what SS gear you use.

It depends on the amp. My AR Complete (soft highs)and CJ 2300A (balanced highs) sound excellent w/ paradox, but my Nakamichi is too "crispy". As always, component matching is critical. Some people think the AV1 is too dull, but if your amp is on the hot side, it might be just right.
Is the Nakamichi piece that you are referring to a receiver? I am curious as my HT receiver is a Nak AV-8 and it sounds from your comment that it might not mate well with the Paradox 1... Thanks in advance for your reply!
No, it is an older TA2a, which has a sharp high end, noticeable on other speakers, too. I think the P1 is merely reporting the truth. If your receiver sounds fine on other speakers, you should be fine. Good luck!
