In Reply to: Aci Sapphire III LE vs Silverline SR 17? posted by elDragon on September 27, 2001 at 11:56:26:
Haven't heard the Silverlines. Owned the SIIIs, (pre-LE). Great speakers. Easily in the league or better than B&W805, Sonus Concertos and other $1800-$2500 pair monitors. The best way for you to know for certain would be to compare. ACI has their money-back guarantee, make sure you get the same on the other speakers you want to demo and spend some time putting them head to head. Make sure they're all well broken it. Let us know your results!

Hello,I own Sapphire II/ Titan SUB, and was thinking about upgrading to III. However, i heard great reviews regarding Silverline'S bass extension + great detail and also i would like to eliminate SUB out of my system. Price of Silverline is $2700, but i found used for 1200.
Thanks!
The difference between the Sapphire II and Sapphire III is quite substantial, downright major IMHO! If you're not currently using the passive high pass filters you might want to try them. Another big improvement. Unless it is for lack of room, can't see why you'd want to eliminate the sub. I love the flexibility of a good active sub. If you haven't got a seamless match, it ain't tweaked.
I am (was) quite happy with my set-up, and Sapphire/Titan is superb combo. Absolutely musicaly satisfying! However, as you know, there isn't an end in sight in pursuit.
doubt he'll get that 30-day return policy because Silverline is sold thru regular retail dealerships.
