Thanks mikel for the link! I also should mention that I visited your photos of your system/listening room. Wow!What is your opinion of the tiny Avalon, since you heard them at VSAC?
Thanks in advance!
Brian
hi brian,i didn't spend a lot of time in this room but my quick impressions of the symbols were that they imaged very well, had quick and tuneful bass but understandably lacking in ultimate weight, and were exceptionally coherent. they do many things similar, if not as specially, as the avalon opus or eidolon. depending on your musical tastes and proper amplification, this would be a contender.
thanks for your comments on my system, i must admit i have sold my levinson 32/33 and my wilson watt/puppy 6s and gone to tubes; the Tenor 75Wi monoblocks (an integrated OTL) and Kharma Exquisite reference 1C speakers. i have ordered but not yet recieved these amps and speakers so i have not upgraded my page.

The Avalons' at VSAC 2001, (I was told), were driven by Tube Research Labs Stereo 100 amps, their entry level unit. A friend also has their Stereo 100 and is looking at the small Avalon for his vacation home. Thanks for your insight.Best wishes with your current purchase! Let us know how it turns out.
Mike;
Thanks for the Avalon info and the link to HIFI+, I've added that to my favs. The amp you ordered, the Tenor, is an integrated OTL?!?! Where did you come across this, have you auditioned, what does this guy sound like, price range, etc? Very interesting. Thanks again.
hi rrsands,i'm on my way out of town, but to be brief;
the Tenor 75Wi integrated OTL monoblocks are the best amps i have yet heard. they need to be matched to the proper speaker. check out lars fredal's review in the spring 2001 ultimate audio. i had them in my room for a week, and fell in love. www.tenoraudio.com
i bought them from www.chambersaudio.com, great people!
regards
