Advice please....I wish to ressurect my 25 yr old Rogers 15 ohm Ls3/5a's in a 2nd system but when I unpacked them after 22 yrs of storage, the binding posts are missing a colored plastic nut and have withdrawn into the cabinet. I have no aptitude (electronically) and need someone with a reverence for things ancient (like me and my speakers) to help fix the binding posts. Preferrably in Northern California but will ship if needed.
Also, should any mods be considered in the classics while they are in the hospital (without changing the sound)? Appreciate any help....
Follow Ups:
If I remember correctly the back panel on the LS3/5a is removeable. It uses wood screws that go into hard wood battens so there isn't the problem of stripped threads as in MDF.
Hahax,
The very first Ls3/5a's had screws holding the cabinet; the production models were almost all glued; thus I believe the only way in is through the grill, then 6 screws in the baffle and the driver falls out forward. At least this is what I gather from the websites I have researched. As soon as I can find some plastic nuts for the binding posts, I'm going to marshall my very slim electronic skills and give it a try.
ask Bart Yee the moderator, also. try ls35a@yahoogroups.comThe issue is a loose nut behind the speaker wire post. Repair is by carefully removing the grill, taking off the B110 5 inch speaker, carefully exposing the binding post, and reattaching things. As to mods, please send email to the folks I suggested.
