Which series of Sparks are you thinking about?

I'm assuming you are talking about the newer Sparks with the radial ring tweeter and two midbass drivers. I was just wondering because I own the original Sparks-and they are very nice sounding speakers. There are some things you need to be aware of-one of which is the newer models are not designed by Joachim Gerhard, the designer of the famed Virgo II. The original Sparks have the same tweeter as the Virgo, and a poly dual voice coil midbass. I'm a little prejudiced towards Gerhards designs-as they are the ones that put AP on the map. The newer designs are more sensitive due to the second woofer and produce more bass than the older ones, but that ring tweeter sounded "darker" to my ears for lack of a better word. YMMV Another issue with the whole AP line is they like to be away from room boudaries to do thier best-and when they do-you'll know it. Imaging free of the box may be an understatement. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your thoughts. What makes this tuff (Thought I had sold myself on the Gibbon 8) is I can get the sparks for $2,000 used, but in like new condition.
