Hi all: Found this surprisingly well done basic freqency response hearing test on the Web. Not like you would get from an audioligist but surely will give you a pretty good idea where you stand.
Bearing in mind of course that the quality of your PC sound card and your PC speakers will have some bearing on it.

When I tried the 16K hz button I got a pitch that was somewhere between 750 and 1K. Anyone else find this to be the case. I would think if I can no longer hear 16K and there really were a 16K signal there, I would have heard nothing, instead of a much lower tone.
Eminent Technology's website used to have pretty clean sound files, just to try another source.

Although I could not hear the 16k hz tone, my 14 year old daughter and her friend could. If you hear a click and not the tone, then you can't hear the 16k frequency. Don't know how old you are, but if you're over 40, this would not be unusual. I've seen these tests before and it still freaks me out that I can't hear the 16k hz tone. Admitting that one is getting older is not easy.
I am over 40 so I may not be able to hear 16k hz, but I do hear a tone from the 16K hz button; its just way lower than 16k hz, which made me thing it was not working right.
....... I will try it out when conditions permit.Oh, Sydney is a very long way from South Wales.

as the ambient outside noises and a good inner ear inspection! But it looks like fun nonetheless..

I hope you mean ear canal inspection... that's the outer ear. Middle ear requires a trip up the eustatian tube, inner ear requires cochlear surgury...
