Greetings: I recently received a pair of Technics SB-L95 speakers. Both speakers need new woofers to be usable. I've had no success locating OEM replacements. Where do I go to get replacement woofers?
Follow Ups:
No such thing as original replacement woofers for virtually ANY older speaker. And matching other woofers to the existing enclosure & crossover circut to other drivers is no easy task (that requires expensive measurement equipment & modeling software). But 1st, do the woofers really require outright replacment (kicked in cones or burnt out voice coils) OR is only the foam surround suspension (between cone & frame) deteriorated? Generic replacement surrouuds are readily available (follow that Parts Express link in previous reply), relatively inexpensive & can make those speakers sound like new again. If you doubt your DIY ability, you can send the woofers out to be re-foamed for modest expense (perform a search in the Vintage forum catagory). Almost any foam typically does rot after a decade or so exposure to the atmosphere.
.
Thanks much Guys: What a great site, I looked around for a while and came across the DIY speaker section. Maybe I'll just build a set of the Magna Cum Laudes' and abandon my "wall of sound" dream! Thanks again.
