Loook pretty impressive, patented crossover technology too ?
Follow Ups:
before he changed it to joseph audio.
...regards...tr
From what i am told, Jeff Joseph once was a JSE Infinite Slope dealer.
I jumped on a pair of JSE Infinite Slope model 1's after reading a great review.
Bought em w/o even listening first, and was not disappointed.
I LOVED those speakers.Evidently, so did Jeff Joseph, and he took them to the next level with better drivers/cabinets.
I thought he had the exclusive right to Richards Infinite Slope crossover, but I may be wrong ?These Induction Dynamics speakers appear to be using an Infinite Slope crossover ??
Could be a different application with similar results to the "infinite slope?" Don't feel like wading through the patents right at the moment...
.
I THOUGHT it was, and it is patented by the genius Richard Modaferri.
I THOUGHT only Joseph Audio was supposed to use it, but maybe Richard made a deal with these guys as well ?
I have heard the tweeter in this speaker before. The only problem I had with it was in a two way where it was needing to reach too low. The nice thing is that in this system it has the dome mid to help out with that. The sound of the tweeter is crisp and clean but if you are used to silk/textile dome tweets it may be a little too brittle sounding. I have some scan speak drivers that sound excellent too. So this could be a good deal. Have not listened to the this completed speaker brand before but they do look very well made. Take a look at Legacy Audio for comparison as the arrangement reminds me a little of their Focus model from the last 10 years or so. Their new line up, Legacy, has switched many of the drivers from previous years, don't know if that is good or bad. Good luck.
The Infinite Slope crossover is an amazing device, trust me.
I owned the JSE Infinite Slope Model One's, and couldn't believe what that crossover did for those drivers. These speakers are using good drivers, and that tweeter is a great tweeter, if you keep out of band stuff OUT of it.
And, that is exactly what Richard Modafferi patented crossover does.
Induction Dynamics was smart, real smart to enlist the services of Richard Modafferi!
Those speakers were not designed nor licensed by Richard Modafferi. They have their own patents, but the circuit described is essentially similar what we used in the earliest generation of our products. The only difference is that they moved a series element from the hot side to the ground side. In my opinion, if someone were to challenge their patents on that crossover, one could easily show prior art by EA & JSE. They were very clever to describe their slopes as 50-60 dB per Half-octave instead of 100 dB per octave, which might have set off some red flags for the patent examiner, who, in my opinion, goofed on allowing this.
Besides, we've moved on to a newer hybrid version of the Infinite Slope network, and it works better all the way 'round. So why fight over the older technology?
I THOUGHT these were Richards design.
I mean to a Layman like myself, they sure confused me.
And, I could see where others may be confused, THINKING they are getting a Modafferi Infinite Slope speaker.I agree that IMHO the patent examiner goofed big time, due to prior art existing.
I know much money has been spent in Advertising educating people on the considerable benefits
of an Infinite Slope Crossover. It is also MY opinion as a consumer that they may be trading on Richards work, as well as infringing on his Patent.
