amp: McCormack DNA-125
cdp: Cary 308t, played direct into amplooking for emotion, not dryness - looking for a live sound, not clinical - many posts here sing the praises of McCormack/Vandy, would the 2ce Sigs be a better fit? 3a Sigs probably too large for the room (13x18 with big picture window in the back)

I have the VR4jr's and run them with high-quality, high-powered Canary tube monoblocks and a Canary tubed preamp. There is nothing "dry" about them in my system. However, in your system I might recommend the Spendor due to the fact that you are running your CDP directly into a SS amp. My experience doing that with the VR4jr's was less satisfying. I ran a Resolution Audio Opus 21 into a BAT VK-500 and didn't care for the results--drier and flatter. Obviously, I prefer the sounds of tubes, and your 308T may just do the trick. The VR4jr was reportedly voiced using the Spectron Musician III--a high-quality "digital" power amp.As for the quality of the VR4jr's, just read the many professional reviews. Ka7nig (as opposed to Ka7niq, a legitimate member here) is a troll who is continuously looking for a thread to put down VSA and their Chinese operations. Do a search, and you'll see what I mean. It is particularly telling that Ka7nig chose a moniker so close to Ka7niq, a member who has often championed VSA speakers based on his own experience.
dont buy the hype. You are much better off with Tyler Linbrooks or Dali Helicon's as well.Von Schweikert's business dealings are less than stellar and now that he is selling direct with a jacked up retail price, you can see where things could be getting dicey again.
I went from Spendor S5e's to Triangle Antal ESW's and haven't looked back. They have presence and detail most other speakers can't match while remaining full, rich and musical as hell. Try to find a well broken in pair to listen to.
I hope you can listen to these, and in your home if at all possible. I have listened to many speakers and never heard any I liked as much as the Spendor SP1/2's I ended up with. And that includes the VR4jr's, although I haven't heard the very latest version.Of course, this is a totally subjective experience, so what I like best you might like worst ... but there's something about a Spendor that is so distinctly RIGHT -- and very different from most other speakers (I've heard).
Have a blast!
