The 805s $2500pr
Paradigm S2 $2200-2500pr depending on finish
I've heard both head-to-head and you couldn't go wrong with either. I honestly could not say one outperforms the other, it's just a matter of taste.
Follow Ups:
I'm sorry but I was quoted in Canada $2100.00 List for the S2 and $3000.00 for the N805 and was under the impression that the 805s was a few hundred more than the N805.I think the S2 is the better deal of the two - neither offer a sound that I would be happy with long term. I think there are several better less expensive speakers out there. But someone has to pay for the pretty laminated advertising brochures, the money paid to advertise in the audio press atc.
Apparently I got the 805 Signature and the 805s mixed up as well. The signature is what I was thinking of so if the 805s is about the same sounding as the n805 or the S805 then it is probably a coin flip with the S2.Buy whichever is prettiest as they all get a revamp in the marketing every few years.
I've never heard a B&W i've liked until i heard the newish 805S. They switched to 1st-order crossovers, and the tweeter isn't hot anymore. I was pretty shocked. Easily beat the Dyn Focuses in the same room (and i've owned dyns in the past). I'm very interesting in perhaps trying 804S for awhile as a result of my auditions.I used to dismiss B&W frequently, but i must admit i have to take them seriously now---my buddy has the 800D and he says it beats Maxx2 and other high echelon makes. He's owned practically everything, so that says something.
