...why are they your only choices? The S2 throws a HUGE multi-layered stage in a good sized room, very believable "you are there" feeling, but obviously can't do it all dynamically (small cabinet/woofer). Still, I was stunned at the presentation - almost Maggie-big, smooth, palpable, but definitely would need a sub.
The Sig 805s are pretty much in the same boat, but have a bit more bass on their own. Still, a subwoofer would be needed. IMO, there is a discontinuity with the 2-way B&Ws... the Paradigms seem more... well, "seamless".
Unfortunately, $2K ain't a whole lot nowdays...lol.
By the way, aren't the S805s a cool thou more than the S2s? That opens up a LOT more...
Either way, there are a million (err, yup... a trillion!) speakers to listen to in this price range. Depending upon your preferences, either speaker could "do it" for you.
Or maybe not... listen to everything you can in your area!
Follow Ups:
The current 805s is a better speaker (and $1K less) than the Signature 805. The only plus for the Sig was the finish.
...not "Signature".I suppose B&W says "S805", not the other way around.
The Standard 800 series speakers are:
805s
804s
803s
while the Diamond 800 series are:
803d
802d
801d
800d
