Has anyone done this with good results?I heard some Usher CP-6311's recently and I liked the way that 1" silk dome tweeter sounded.
Thanks.

More correctly what you liked was the way the speaker designer integrated that particular tweeter with the other drivers in that speaker system = you liked the speaker SYSTEM, not the tweeter alone. Unless you auditioned JUST the tweeter with NO midrange or woofer in the mix. As already mentioned, you cannot just drop another tweeter (or woofer, or mid) into your existing speaker system without also re-designing the crossover circut for a satisfactory blend & integration with the other drivers & cabinet. THAT requires measuring capability & pc modeling programs. Visit more-specialized DIY speaker-building forums @ madisound.com or partsexpress.com/ Here, discussion is prmarily about completed commercial speakers.
All of these things need to be considered and addressed, as the Real Dick Hertz mentioned. The Seas tweeter in the 3.3's are rated at 6 ohms nominal, and its faceplate is smaller than most after-market tweeters. Changing out the stock tweeters--successfully--with anything other than direct replacements isn't an easy thing to do in the case of the 3.3's.
Are you prepared to do some modifications the the bandpass and high pass sections of the crossover network? You most certainly will need to do so.
