I haven't heard these YET, but I have a great deal of respect for TC Sounds.
They make the woofer drivers used in the SVS subwoofer I own.
It is my understanding they have been a "behind the scene" vendor to the high end industry for many years, making stuff for several well known high end manufacturers.
If their new Line Source is even 1/2 as good as their world famous subwoofers, it might be a revelation for Audiophiles worldwide. It is also my understanding that the new TC Sounds Line Sources will also be quite affordable as well.
I have posted a link below so the rest of you can check it out for yourself.
Looks pretty cool to me!
Follow Ups:
Having lived with and even built line-source-approximating speakers, in my experience there are tradeoffs involved in pairing up a line source mid/tweet section with a point source woofer section. I presume the powered woofer has a level control, which will help. Note that the tonal balance will be dependent on the listening distance as the bass propagates from a point source while the mids and highs propagate from a line source.Duke
Looks great; thanks for sharing ... however, I am a bit frustrated with this info. as it doesn't say when this thing will be available or how much, etc.! Very interesting. I wonder (and hope!) if they are using the Newform Research ribbons?
x
Oh god no ... they make thier own ... I've owned both and even though the BG's are quite spectac., the Newforms are much more refined I.M.H.O.
This is TC Sounds remember, a long time behind the scenes vendor to the High End Industry.
They go way back to making things for Counterpoint, if you remember them.
They hold several Patents on driver design, and have intriguing R&D facilities.
I was told that their Line Source product will be far from a bunch of off the shelf drivers stacked.
They are making their OWN Ribbon, all 7 feet of it.Believe it or not, my Kid turned me on to TC Sounds.
He is into Bass, and TC Sounds makes some awesome subwoofer drivers.I bought my SVS Subwoofer used, and it turns out there is a TC Sounds driver in it!
It will rattle the whole house, and never break a sweat. My kid has 2 of their 12 inch subwoofers in his car in a sealed box.
My kid has "audiophile genes", but they manifest themselves in the ways of people of his generation.
He likes Bass, LOLWe must not forget that we were once kids with Jensen 6 by 9's and 8 tracks.
Now, we are Baby Boomers seeking the Holy Grail of line source ribbons, LOLLike any good Dad, I encourage my Son on his journey for Bass.
It must be remembered that today's "Bass Heads" might well be tomorrow's audiophiles ?
Cool; hey please keep us / me ....well esp. ME :) .. posted on this ... or your son can keep us posted :) ... as I can not find any other info on this; thanks!
