does anyone know about these new revel performa F52...are they worth the $7k that the company is asking for them??
Follow Ups:
I listened to both along with a number of others and bought the Revel's. I think they are surpassingly neutral, don't misbehave under load, and have nice wide dispersion. No flaws that get under your skin. A speaker for the long haul.
What other 7k speakers have you compared them to. If you listen to a lot of other $7k speakers and the Revel is the best to you then they are a good deal - if not then they are not. You may find somethig for a lot less money that you will like a lot better -- don't be a slave to the sticker prices. I would put my $3.5K speakers up against all the $10k speakers I have heard from competitors and I can;t think of one I would trade even up for. It's less about the sticker price and more about the design (or voicing) of the speaker.
The Revel and the Paradigms are not my personal cup of tea and I prefer a few $2k speakers to their top models. You may or may not agree.
Don't know what they are worth, but I own a pair and have been very satisfied with them. Very tight low end, great soundstage. Sound good with jazzz, blues, R&R.
As a Revel Gem owner I would say buy them, they are worth every cent. Revel speakers throw a wide sound stage, with a wide sweet spot, very fast speaker, incredibly low distortion, and are very neutral. Some people don't like how neutral they are, I do since I had played a musical instrument for many years, they sound as close to reality of any speaker that I have owned.
I agree with Pat. If you like them buy them, if not don't. As to what is the "best buy", rated by whom, They guy trying to sell them to you? I don't know DALI speakers so I cannot say if they are good or bad. I'll be honest and say that I own Revel and I have a bias.
Sorry... That message number is not valid.
I haven't heard the Revel F52 but have heard the older M20 and F30, both of which were fine speeakers. I wish I had had more time to audition them (we were traveling) and to adjust the tweeter control.I have heard the Paradigm Signature S8 and consider it to be a first class speaker, as do some good reviewers. They have a very smooth, neutral response and are very easy to listen to. We have the Paradigm Signature S2's and we love them. There seem to be new iterations of the Signature Series speakers and they may be even better in some respects.
You might want to consider the PSB Platinum Series, as well. They are very fine speakers, too.
