...of the speaker baffle. If you have access to one, use a 1" round over bit. If not, a 3/4" is better than nothing. Whatever you do, don't leave a raised edge on the cabinet. That will exacerbate any diffraction effects from the tweeter.
Follow Ups:
Diffraction effects can break a good design. One can also minimize diffraction affects with fool felt. Follow this link to see. It's from our own who goes by "dlr" Apparently he does not like being called "Mr Felt".

Interesting. I now recall the felt page from a while back but had forgotten it. Still wish I knew more about the effects of shortening the cabinet while deepening it. Apparently in the non real world tests Mr. Unruh did he mentioned a second impulse which I took as a soundwave coming off the back wall of the speaker. I'm hopeful that with only a small difference in cabinet size the insulation in the cabinet would ameliorate that difference from the original design intent. I'm somewhat doubtful that back of cabinet reflection is what he's referring to but it is a concern in my project in any case. Thanks for your input.
Thanks again! I do have a 1" router (better woodworker than speaker designer). I'll use a solid piece of poplar for the edge. Your info was very helpful and led to a search on baffle design which kept me out of trouble this evening!
Post pics if you can.
