I had the original large Advents and then the Snell E 111 and today the PSB Stratus Silver i. Although electronics have changed, I find the PSB's significantly better in ways that appeal to me.
Neither the Advent or the Snell was much of a soundstaging champ. Most of the sound came from a rather small window around the speaker.Tonally they were very good if not particularily airy or spacious so that disappearing act never took place.
I also find the low distortion at high levels of the PSB's to be an added attraction.I am, though, of the mind that today there are too many slightly bright and potentially analytical speakers that reviewers seem to often like

its not the fall over the cliff that hurts ... its the sudden stop at the end that gets ya'.

That had to hurt. All kidding aside I have the original large advents in their boxes stored in my gargae cabinets. When I was younger (high school) we would get ahold of a vinyl pair and disconnect the tweeter and use them as subwoofers...that was in the days of mo' bass was better bass.
Sounded horrible but they did rock.
