Well, I have the Von Schweikert Vr2 speakers great souding to say the least. To me they have been the best speakers that I have owned but anyway I have a Shanling STP 80 amp with 35wpc. It drives the speakers fairly well but I need a bit more power. Considering upgrading to Rogue Cronus or Jolida amp. I love the Jolida 1000RC but she's a beast of beauty at 100 wpc.Any other recommendations for my speakers, looking for more power, tighter bass and overall better sound.
Follow Ups:
My good friend ran his VR2s with a 13wpc Art Audio Diavolo SET amp, and the combo sounded wonderful in his apartment. Due to room mating considerations we had to stuff the ports with Audiophile Grade socks to get the speaker room thing to work out right. But, oh my god, what a glorious entrancing sound was made those things. Female singers, male singers, hell, most anything, would just seduce you into listening for hours.

And I suppose you'd think Quads would only sound good with Chinese amps and CD players, not to mention, cables because Quads are Chinese made now, huh? Don't play your Linn with your
American amps or else, bad sound! Please, don't show your prejudice on your sleeve with comments like this even if it's a joke, 'cause it's not funny. The Chinese have become very good at this audiophile thing and will only get better in the years to come. It is easy to play arm chair Chinese critic, but I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot and us Americans were actually making quality products AND able to sell them cheaply to the Chinese, we would be trying to better the world wide competition as well.
He's just trying to be funny. Give him a break. ka7niq is a valuable contributer to this message board while running a singles club at the same time....and....he cleans shingles!I have a Jolida and touch wired it and blew it up. Sent it back for repair and the fuse blows constantly. The president won't return emails.
Avoid Jolida.
We know only ka7niq
This is who he really is, sometimes ....
He changes his unresistered moniker around to suit his troll.

Seeing how the IP addresses do not match how do you know. It's certainly possible that it could be the same person using a different computer or a proxy but how would you know that?

I owned the VR 2's before the VR 4 JR's, and here are my observations.
They are not an amp critical speaker at all, meaning they do not require a "Majic" amp to sound good.
I had the best luck with a Moscode 600 on them, but believe it or not, they even sounded good with a big JVC RX DP 9 receiver! The amp/preamp section of the big JCV RX DP 9 is sold as an integrated amp in Europe, and was well regarded.
My friend and fellow Inmate Kurt{Goyescas} down in Sarasota used Classe DR 9 amp, and Audio Research Tube Preamp on his VR 2's.
He reviews the VR 2's here in the review section, and found them to be most coherent sounding.
it looks like you can biamp the Vr2, right? use your shanling on the mids/highs and get a high current SS amp for the bass. do you have any audio friends that would be willing to bring their SS amps over to try?
its 2.5 way. so shanling would be used only for the tweeter.
in my experience, 60 solid-state watts is not enough either.
i would go for parasound A-21 or some other high-current amp.
i am powering mine with Adcom GFA 555II
I would prefer to go with an integrated tube amp, and not SS. However, I do have an Onkyo 787 which is not used in anyway...
