Has anyone auditioned the Silverline Sonata-III speakers with Audio Note Soro SE amplifier? Does it have enough juice for them?I own Silverline Sonata-III speakers and recently received a Unison Research Sinfonia amplifier which is out of order. I have two options: to repair it or trade it somehow for the AN Soro SE through the same dealer.
Follow Ups:
Can you try first to see? The AN amps are fairly robust for SETs and I have found them to be able to drive some Lower efficiency speakers fairly well. Still I would want an ideal match. Ask to borrow the amp to try first. Especially when it comes to bass. Will it have the juice and you won;t know until you actually try it.
Thanks!Borrowing an amp would be an ideal option, but it's hardly possible here. However, I will try to find out the demo shops where they are sold.
Well on the AN site you can get the review of the Soro SE and they suggest that it would be fine with 90db speakers. However I find that a gross generalization. The AN's care less about sensitivity ratings than they do about impedence. I can say that the AN K is 90db and is easily powered by the OTO and Soro. The OTO also had a very good review with power pig Thiels. I'm unfamiliar with your speakers but I remember people saying they were fairly easy to drive the only real issue might be impedence - how far down do they dip.
I have less experience with the SORO but it sounded more articulate than my OTO which leans a little more to the warm side. I liked them both and I might prefer the Soro if I had the chance at lnger auditions. The Soro has been around a long time and I believe you want one of the more updated versions. MKII or something.
CHeck the review on the AN site of the SORO - they seemed to feel it could power most speakers quite fine.
