In Reply to: Your Opinion : From Pioneer HPM-60 to QUAD 21L ? posted by falcon_wizard on October 13, 2005 at 07:58:36:
The quads are a great sounding pair of speakers. VERY transparent - almost electrostatic-like transparency. However- if you like bass (I know I do) a subwoofer is a necessity with these speakers. They have very little bass representation.

Thanks for your feedback...Personnally, I'm the kind of guy to turn down the bass a little, so I should be pretty happy with that. Vocals and Guitar is what I like the most. I like clarity in the voices and high notes, with soundstage.
Worst case, I can always upgrade by adding a sub... which is fair by me.
Given your preferences, I think the quad would be a great speaker for you.
I got the 21Ls over the weekend... ;-)I am really satisfied. I have to admit it is actually beyond my expectations. My lounge just vibrates and sing... great soundstage.
I had a pair of Elipson 1303 lended to me few months back and I though I could not reach that level quality with a decent amount of $, but it seems that the smaller QUADs actually do a better job in my rather medium-sized lounge, packed with plants and furniture...
Another happy customer...
Thanks to all all of you who helped me make the choice.
Once these speakers break-in you will simply be amazed and will be playing all your music over and over again. I luv their transperency. I have had them for 4 months now..they are simply superb!! The only issue with the speakers are they expose bad recordings very much. Some of the my older cassettes (yeah..I use em) are no longer listenable :-( But feed them with a nice recording and these babies sing :-)
