You are totally in the right to have walked on that deal and demo, regardless if they are the "only" dealer around with what you are interested in. I have worked on and off in the customer relations and sales end of the industry for many years, and that was just plain rude on the salesman's side. I honestly am surprised he wasn't fired on the spot!
Better luck at another dealer! When you do buy, make a friendly little stop back there and just "let them know" of your dissatisfaction of them and your purchase elsewhere. Put them in their place!

Or does anybody else hate it when you ask question A and people answer something else altogether? Who cares about "better" speakers in the Dynaudio price range, if you like their sound, find another dealer. My wife's a District Manager for a national retailer--as others have suggested go above the salesman and complain. Start with the store owner, then go to Dynaudio and maybe even the distributor. Retail (even esoteric stereo dealers) is all about building a happy, loyal and REPEAT customer. Someone higher in the food chain will deal with this turkey.
I had a local stereo "dealer" (out of his house)tell me I had to bring my own amp to audition a pair of speakers! Needless to say, I passed (hoping to actually select the amp based on the speakers.
They allowed me to take it home. But the fan noise was outrageous. Next time I was at the shop the saleman took me aside and said his boss, the owner, had chewed him out for letting me take the open box Rogue unit home. The boss told the salesmans I was just "borrowing it for a night", I never had any intention of buying it.A month later, when I bought my McIntosh MA6900 elsewhere, I faxed the distrustful owner a copy of the sales slip (price blacked out).
