Over this holiday weekend some guests' children poked in the tweeters on my Silverline SR-17s. I believe these are Dynaudio D-260s. I've got a couple of questions regarding their replacement.1) What are some sources of the tweeters? I've checked Madisound and Parts Express, and neither seem to carry them anymore.
2) Does anyone know if Silverline modifies the tweeters in any way? I've written to them inquiring about a new set, but am thinking that if they use 'stock' Dynaudios that I might be able to get them for less $$ somewhere else.
Follow Ups:
If all else fails, it appears the D260 is availble through some pro audio shops. They are replacement drivers for the Dynaudio Acoustics line.http://www.proaudiodesign.com/moreinfo.php3?ItemID=P11686

If the only problem with your tweeters are dented domes, you might be able to use a vacuum cleaner to suck the domes back in place. Use the vacuum cleaner carefully, at a low setting.Or, you can put tape on the dented parts of the dome, and carefully pull the tape outwards until the dents are gone.
I was able to get the tweeters back into form using a vacuum (done VERY carefully). However, from the sound they appear to have suffered some damage....there's been a loss of 'presence' and a loss of some HF response. I guess crinkled tweeters cause more loss than crinkled dustcovers in midrange drivers (no suprise there, I suppose).
you can't find raw dynaudio drivers anymore.
they are only sold to several speaker manufacturers.
I would contact silverline and get some replacement.
However, their parents are very good friends (and actually still are today), so it's just one of those things you just swallow. Thanks for the info on the Dynaudio drivers.....you saved me some time searching the 'net. I'll wait to hear back from Silverline.....hope it's not going to be horribly expensive (however, saw a post in the archives that suggested these tweeters are > $300......gulp).
I will sell you mine.godzilla3@hotmail.com
I have a pair of d260's sitting on my shelf for the past few years.
