Crooks have figured out how to use PayPal to get free items thru eBay. They simply state 'item not as described'. This can be as simple as claiming it does not work & PayPal will refund. Another is 'item not shipped' & PayPal will refund if you do not have tracking. Overseas UPS is 3x USPS in shipping costs & buyer can use 'item not as described' anyways.I cringe when I see $2K items being offered on eBay with PayPal as payment medthod. I have lost $50 to date myself. No PayPal now.

I baught a Rane Xover on eBay and the guy would only accept BidPay which, as I understand it, is the internet version of Western Union. It is owned by Western Union and just like the walk in version, they just send the cash. They do not get involved in the transaction. Cheers.
Bidbay/Western Union is as unsecure and dangerous a way to pay for a transaction as they come (short of sending cash).
Why is that Len? I'd like to because I have stared using them instead of paypal. Thanks for any information you can give. Cheers.
Western Union is a money transfer service and should only be used to wire money to a trusted partner. Bidpay requires signing for an account an they then send a check. It is different and safe. I have used it numerous times with far better results than PayPal. Someone hacked my card info through PayPal and signed up for a bunch of porn sites.

I got stiffed for a remote control, spent a month and a half trying to talk the seller into making good for it and then got stiffed by PayPal and ePay when I brought his lying, cheatin' ways to their attention.EPay said that him cheating me out of the remote for a D-VHS deck was not "not as described" so they would do nothing. They care more about his business than mine! It made no difference that there were a bunch of buyers that had had the same problem as me! Fraud means nothing to them and I am out $60 for a remote. [I would never have bid on the item if there were no remote control listed and pictured].
His ID is "cordless4less" and he had the nerve to retaliate when I left him negative feedback... all he could say was "Paid late" (not true!). I will suffer my only neg to make sure that his stays!
As a seller, I have had 'not as described' filed against me when item was damaged by the carrier. No big deal as the item was insured.
Unfortunately, the seller freaked out and they called me a cheat plus no way his NY UPS buds were responsible for the damage. UPS quickly agreed I did not pack correctly with the buyers statement. I had to threaten suit against UPS usimg my Prepaid Legal services I retain & remind UPS the item met UPS packing stabdards 1A thanks to that east coast jerk. Finally, UPS paid & the buyer went to the ePay blocked bidders list. PayPal could care less.As for your deal, I would have stated no remote if it was not available. Many functions on the remote does not have access on the gear itself.

PayPal is ok in USA. Others overseas that dealt with me in the past are allowed to use Paypal. New overseas buyers can send cash via registered mail or use a bank draft.
The way I see it is PayPal has no protection for the seller overseas & charges the seller for the privelege- go figure.
