I don't know about the other dealers or manufaturers here but this weekend I received about $18k worth of orders!!! yeh right. They all wanted to provide me with credit card or postal money order that "their associate owed them". One person even offered to have his associate come into my location, provide me with a international money order and wanted me to give him his "change" based on this money order that was mistakenly written out for twice the actual amount.
I am use to getting one or two of these a week but this weekend I received about 8 different order inquiries from various "clients" throughout the world.
Nigeria, Indonesia, Ghana, Senega, Asia, Japan and a few from countries I never heard of.
Looks like it was a fraud weekend. Just wanted to pass along the warning to everyone else out there. Both consumers and dealers are targeted in these scams.
Beware.

The sad part is that you have no idea how many people DO fall prey to these scams. Good for you for not only being vigilant but for letting others know! Education is the ONLY way to stop these jerks!!

Education will help stop people from falling prey to these hucksters. To my way of thinking, it will take more than that to stop the hucksters.I posted a pair of speakers for $175 on a Canadian forum. The only reply was from a scammer. I decided that the less time he had to con people, the better, so I felt it was my duty to waste his time as much as possible. He mailed me a check for $4,500 supposedly from a company in Toronto, although it was postmarked in Holland. His address for me to send the balance of the money (by Western Union wire transfer, of course) was in Nigeria. And he would send his shipper to pick up the speakers as soon as I transferred the balance of funds. Will, he finally gave up on me after about two months and 40 or 50 eamils. From my perspective, mission accomplished - I wasted his time.
To protect myself, I gave him a fictitious name and a post office box to mail his check to. It wasn't an eBay auction, so there was no dange of receiveing negative feedback.
Great story! I love it!! I actually do get a chance every once and a while to see some of these charcaters get caught (it is rare). I am a lawyer for the Fraud Prevention and Investigative Services Department of a major bank and I see these scams all the time. You'd be surprised at how many apparently intelligent people (I guess "apparently" is the operative word here), fall for these scams. Appealing to our greed factor is what allows these criminals to enjoy the successes they do!We all KNOW the old saying "If it looks to good to be true . . ." but we still turn a blind eye to it at times!!
I really like your method of wasting their time and effort! Keep up the good work!!

I assume the check he sent to you did not clear? It's funny how that overpay by thousands of dollars. Do they really think us Americans are that stupid? I realize some are not so aware of international scaming but if someone from another country accidently sent me $4300+ overpayment on a itme selling for less than $200, I think I would be a little concerned.Thats almost as bad as the emails from the daughter of Dr. Whatever who needs a bank accout to store her $27,000,000,00 in and give you 15% for helping here out. (I received 4 of these in the past two days).

I knew right from the get-go that it was a scam, so I still have the check as a keepsake. I gave the scammer a fictitious name, so it would be impossible to cash the check.

Well, looks like more and more people all aroud the world are starting to appreciate the quality and good sound. Which really makes me think that we, the human race, still have some chance in the ugly time of MP3 and "$100 HT in a box"... :))))))
Sometimes they come back and mostly they dont:)
and he'll be coming to you shortly, to write a check from First Elbonian National bank.

"Greetings
Thank you for your interest in our products. Kindly send me a check or money order for the amount of these products as indicated. Please add $200 handling for each package and include your shippers account number. Being an internation third party order, I must allow 24 months for payment to clear upon which time I will procede with shipping the product to your client. The process will be much faster if you send cash in US currency. Kindly keep in touch over the years for progress of your order"
