Just a warning to all on Welborne Labs. Had a bad experience - after ordering US$460 of parts last July they failed to show up. Contacted Ron Welborne who said they were insured and would follow up. After repeated e-mails/fax (his last communication was last October), he won't even respond to ANY e-mails/faxes. Out of pocket US$460 and no customer service....bad, bad, bad
Be warned....
Follow Ups:
Finally all has been sorted with this issue, so thank you to all that assisted.
Now this returns Welborne to the usual level of good service that I have received in the past.
when valued over $10-15. For a few dollars more, UPS is a good carrier with light weight items as they rarely lose anything. in fact, I never experienced a lost parcel vs USPS losing about 1 out of 150 parcels. All carriers will most likely damage to some extent very heavy items where as a true freight carrier is more careful. UPS just messed up a wood crated amp- go figure. Soldred wire broken off, speakers with voice coils rubbing now. Very nasty handling. Cartwheeling heavy items out of the back of a truck is one sure way. Thankyou UPS & FED EX in the last 30 days for crappy handling.
If he shipped USPS and filed a claim, the local PO will have no info regarding that. There is a toll free (in the US) number to call for automated claim info:
1-866-974-2733
if you have a USPS claim number (like the parcel code, e.g. the insurance form number, ) you can check it on that phone number and they will tell you the status. USPS is slow to pay. I filed a claim on Oct. 7th and finally just got paid a week or so ago. And that was within the US, with all relavent extensive paperwork supplied, etc.
good luck.
Exactly the opposite of my experience. I have filed 3 claims with USPS with over 3000 vacuum tubes shipped and have always been paid for the claim within 30 days. Perhaps it is a geographic thing...I live in the Midwest. Also, I try to have the Post Master of the local claims person call on my behalf to speed the process.
one sided is never a good thing to begin with.
1. Ordered parts end July 2005 via Welborne website
2. Checked with Welborne on 7 August to see if they had shipped
3. Ron advised on 10 August they had been sent the prior week
4. 30 Aug still no parts - contacted Welborne again, Ron said they should have been here. Advised checking with local post office/customs, which I did
5. 22 Sep Ron gave insurance/item # said to check with customs. Checked with customs and parcel hadn't arrived in country (had left US but hadn't made it to Aust)
6. Advised Ron on 17 Oct of the local response - Ron replied on 21 Oct that he had already filed an insurance claim
7. Followed up with Welborne (e-mail) to check status of insurance claim on 8 Nov, 28 Nov, 5 Dec, 13 Dec, 10 Jan 06 sent a fax, further e-mails on 18 Jan and 24 Jan - NO RESPONSE TO ANY OF THESE & NO COMMUNICATION FROM WELBORNE SINCE 17 OCT 2005!!!!Now if Ron Welborne wants to challenge any of the above, then please do so. Based on the above facts, am I being unreasonable with regard to customer service???
.
...anytime he would like to give his side of the story...
If you could get Welborne to respond and give their side, I would be delighted. As I said, they won't respond to e-mails or faxes. Here is the last communication sent on 21/10/05:"Yes, I already filed an insurance claim. Let me check with our post office today to see what the status is.
Regards,
Ron Welborne
Welborne Labs"So why no further communication? Why won't he even respond to an e-mail asking nicely as to where the claim is at? I wouldn't have posted this warning had I not already sent a further 4 e-mails and a fax without getting a response. For all I know he has got the insurance money and has pocketed it along with my original US$460.
I don't think my position is unreasonable, so again be warned - I strongly recommend buying from someone else. And is anyone knows Ron, perhaps they can tell him about this post and maybe he will do something to rectify the problem (or at least RESPOND)
