For Sale Ads |
69.108.101.189
5 different ads, all starting at $10.00, without reserve. Each similarly worded, claiming the seller had lots of them, all new shipping included in price (!!!). "100% safe" transaction. I noticed the location of the speakers was "US" but the seller's location was "UK", supposedly. And the seller's feedback was all as a buyer, he had never sold anything. And one ad offered them at "$700 USD". Ignoring the 700 price for $5000 speakers, why we would he put the amount as in US dollars if the speakers are in the US?Took all of one hour after I repaorted it, eBay removed all the ads, saying the seller's ID had been hijacked. Watch those phishing expeditions!
Follow Ups:
If it wasn't for a flood of E-mails asking questions about the gear for sale on E-Bay, I never would have known. This is how the hijacking happened.First, I've never been successfully phished. But them sonsofbitches finally got me.
I get an e-mail shortly after I ran an E-Bay add for an amp. I withdrew the add the same day. I F'd up. It was defective. Anyway, the E-mail asks how much is shipping to 90201. Its got all the E-bay logos on it, and a link to "my messages". I hit the linky, and it gives me the E-Bay "sign in" prompt screen. Or so I thought. I sign in my handle and password, hit enter, and a blank screen comes up. Hmmm. No My Messages page. I hit back and sign in again, and again...Never got thru. I'm worried that the prospective buyer isn't getting my message that I'm gonna withdraw the add, not even thinking about having been hijacked. Of course, the next day I start getting flooded w/E-mails asking about dozens and dozens of sales under my handle. I go to My E-Bay and see 132 items being sold! And they're 24 hour sales!
I informed E-Bay and they quickly TKO'd them all. But what a f'ing hassle. He would have sold all of that crap (actually adds for hi end gear), as the had no reserves, collected $$ and of course, not shipped, and I get hung with the feedback and fees.
I'll repeat the mantra, Always look to see that yer NAME is on the E-Mail from E-Bay, Paypal, etc..

A legitimate message from eBay will never have you link from an email. Never use a link in anyone else's email.

Hello,
First I want to tell you that all my units are brand new and comes with 12 months of international warranty provide by factory. I willing to sell it for 1250 US dollars (Christmas discount included). Is very important for me to protect my clients. I can't accept paypal or other payment method without Western union (I am located in Romania and here we don't have multiple options). To be 100% protected we will make this deal under ebay and if something goes wrong, you will receive all your money back including western union fees. Shipping will be made by UPS and in 72 hours you will have it. I will pay the shipping and handling fees. Do not bid on it because I have more units available and I do not want to make more listings and pay more fees to eBay. So if you want to make a 100% protected deal under ebay, with feedback let me know. If you are not satisfied about my product, you have 15 days to send it to me back as I will send you all your money back (15 days refund policy).
Thanks you and Mary Christmas
Nothing more to be said regarding the cesspool of activities in that country. Even the children are defending for themselves. Enough said.
and $800 to ship them back, so he is losing $350 on shipping even if he got the speakers for free. And how does he have 5 year old speakers "lots of them" new in the box?And since when if you go Western Union outside ebay is the deal protected by...............
Jimmy is right. This person is full of shite. Russian Mafia?
Maybe lead drivers, no titanium? On the brighter side, once I could've had a "Casse del mortue" (dictionary!) for 175.00 on eBay Italy.Really nice casket, although the shipping was just a killer.
