Icz,All present day single plate 2A3's are merly 300B's with their filaments folded in half. As follows...
300B 5V/1.2A
2A3 2.5V/2.5AI remember when I was talking to the sovtek engineer about this. She (really weird talking to a women about tube construction) said...well we just parallel the filaments in 2A3 from 300B, rest is the same. We can make up a batch and when we wire the base we can have 2A3 or 300B.
Ok so what 2A3's are any good? Box plate Tungsol's are great with their large fanned out filament. But where you going to find them?
There are allot of tubes available now so skip the biplate and the 300B type 2A3's and take a look at some of the others out there. They are all candidates.
Remember one part design, one part quality of parts and one part construction. So make sure you have these 3 down before you start.
BTW 211/845 suck even more. Unless you have the WE units with metal plates.

Thanks for clearing that up!
when it was being said that a Sovtek 2A3 was a 300B with a 2.5 V filament. He said that was nonsense and that the only thing identical were the plate structure.
that states same - I think the post was relating to operating points etc.Cheers
