Has anyone tried using a Rel Storm111 sub with a Art Audio Jota amp. When I connect the high level connections from the sub to the amp I get a constant loud hum.I have never had this issue with any other amps?I have tried emailing Art Audio but all messages have failed delivery.

Had the same problem with my PX-25. Talked to David Gill about my idea
for a solution: Make the single ground wire coming from the Neutrik
cable into a double (essentialy add "y") ... then connect each black wire
to ground post, and the yellow and red wires as before. He said that configuration would not harm the amp. Works great for me.
However, I guarantee you nothing and can't promise that this approach
won't harm your amp as I am not familiar with the grounding scheme
on the Jota and wasn't using a sub when I had that amp. Oddly enough,
never had this problem when I used the REL with the Diavolo.
æNormal is just a setting on my dryer.

him as well I suppose. Kevin has designed a product or two for Art Audio. Kevin is owner of K&K audio which has it's own forum here at the AA.
To infinity and beyond!!!
Hi, I have REL Strata and Art Audio Carissa connected at hi level (ie speaker posts). No hum whatsoever.
I only get loud hum when I forget to turn the subwoofer off and disconnect the ground (black) connection at amp (i.e. when changing speaker cables).
I suggest you make sure the three wires are connected properly - i.e. red and yellow wires to right and left red terminals and the black one to black terminal at either left or right channel speaker post.
As regards contacting Art Audio forget about emailing US - call Joe Fratus in US or Tom Willis in UK (Tom also reads emails) - details can be found on US and UK sites.
Good luck!
The cure appears to be touching the high level ground wire to the chassis. This amp has only single ended input but touching the chassis with the black wire stops the hum?Now I just have to figure out a easy way to attach to the chassis.
by clipping over the screw.Or by sliding a stripped piece of wire under a screw and snugging the screw down on the wire
or to the shield of an rca plug.
Works for me _grin_
I am using Powervars that have some method of floating a ground - not technically minded enough to grasp more.
It seems like I have to ground just about everything in the audio system to another component,
The video system is even worse. I have to tie all of the grounds/chassis to every piece, and then tie that to the ground in the outlet to stop faint scrolling lines on the projector.
