How long would it normally takes to burn in for NOS and new tubes? How do they sound like before fully burned in? Would it sound brigther or with better tonal balance after burning in? Rgds

Being that NOS tubes are esentially new tubes that have been around and never used, they will have pretty much the same characteristics as the new production tubes.
What I experience with new and nos tubes is non linenerities such that the music will have a lot of sharp peaks and dips in the spectrum and yes it will be bright and sharp at times.
A piano for instance may sound like the musician is pounding super hard on the keys when in fact he isnt but when the tubes break in the music will be much smoother and more listenable and have much more realism.
There is a search feature here at AA that lets you search the forums. I try not to post too many questions before I have first searched the archives here for information. You did not specify what type of tube so you can add the ones you want info on to your own archive search here. Good luck! John
Thx John for the advice and the link. I was referring to 6SL7 and 6SN7. Thx again.
