Hello all,I just bought a used ASL AQ1005 300B SET amp, and am running a new pair of Electro Harmonix 300B tubes in it. I know the proper bias point is about 650mv, but I can't quite figure out how to use this RatShack volt meter. It has the following settings under DCV: 500v, 200v, 20v, and 2v. Under ACV, it has 500v and 200v. Under DCA, it has 200mA, 20mA and 2mA. It has ohm settings too, but I know that's not right ; ) There is one final setting, and that is just labeled with an arrow through a vertical line.
I thought I could figure it out but running through the settings with the volt meter prongs attached to the amp, but I'm not getting anything near a 650-700 reading.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!
Follow Ups:
I just through my Radio Shack digital multimeter in the trash the other day. It never seemed to work right - readings bouncing all over the place at times, or no readings at all.
Set the meter to DCV 2V. You should be getting a reading on the scale of around 0.65 (650mV=0.65V). It is lower you will have to adjust the Bias setting on the amp.Good luck!

P.S.: Just a quick explanation of the different settings:
DCV: Measure DC voltages only (Battery, Bias setting etc.)
ACV :Measure AC voltages only (110 V wall plug, output of signal to speaker, output of CD player etc.)DC: To measure current (in Amperes)
Arrow through a vertical line; Measure whether something is connected, e.g. to find out whether you have a loose contact etc. You should hear an audible sound!

Thanks, Rene! The bias was set so low...that's what was throwing me off. It was around .285 to .325 on both channels.
