Thanks Dan1,I am familiar with the products you proposed. I take it you currently are using them and it sounds good. Sometimes the LC tanks cause resonant issues. What value of cap are you using? I recently bought some foil/teflon capacitors which are doing very well. I replaced my jensen copper foil/oil caps. Be careful soldering the silver foil types they short very easily. I design and wind my own iron chokes, opts cause it's fun. But I am always curious as to the iron people like. I have OPts from james, electraprint, handwound(out of business). I currently have a homemade 4000h grid choke and 100H plate choke good for 10ma dc and 3 different OPTs I made. I was wondering whether I should reevaluate some different values. Are you using parafeed or series OPT set? I have done both.
Follow Ups:
px25erI am in between amps right now.
I just took apart my CT KT90 amp - never got it to sing.
Sounded great - did everything right except play music.
It was parafeed, of course.I am about to try to use most of the parts for a SE KT66.
EXO-01 load for the 6SN7 and the BCP-16NI for the KT66.
My coupling cap will be a .1uFd Vitamin Q I have on hand
because I am using it in a bi-amp situation (above 200Hz).
I will have to get OPTs though - 800:8 won't work here.As far as resonances are concerned I model them on PSUD2
and that tells me if I am going to have resonance or not.
I am using a 100uFd first cap and a 20uFd second cap.
GE 97F motor run cap and a Mundorf second cap.
Howdy DanL,I am not familiar with psud2. I will hit the internet to learn more. I biamp as well at 100hz. Linkwitz-riley used to filter into my Macintosh mc-60s. The 2a3 amp gets all frequencies. I use an open back enclosure lowther dx3. The iron always seems to be the expensive part and your are never exactly sure what you get-- as parameters are hard to come by from manufacturers. You have to test a few to know what I mean. I have heard Vit-Q especially old military types are good if not dried out. I ended up with SET series transformer. Less variables than parafeed and I like the fact that there is no zero flux condition with dc offset. I can still get plenty of inductance for low end and hyster losses are lower. No exotic steels needed in airgapped transformer--nickel,amorphous,cobalt just good old m-6 or m19. Of course no electrolytics in my power supply. What do we constantly tinker with these amps? Cause it's fun!

Dan,I will have to put my 5u4 power supply into the simulator. The LC tank resonances I was referring to are the plate choke, coupling cap and the grid choke not the power supply but thanks for the info on the free software on power supplies.
