I always thought the RAscals underated (by me) and might pick something up here.
As for the 5th Dimension, I always loved Jimmy Webb's songs.Check the releases at the site
Follow Ups:
Greates hits by the Rascals. I think I bought it in 1968 or 1969. Great album by a very good, underrated band.
...there is a double CD of 5th Dimension Hits I would recommend - 'Up, Up and away - Definitive Collection'.As for the Rascals, this one has all of my favorites on it:
My favorite Rascals albums are "Groovin" and "Time-Peace, Greatest Hits". I also like "Peaceful World" which is very different from the others, much more free form. The last time I saw them they were playing music from it.
I agree with the advice to go for greatest hits on Fifth Dimension. Their albums had a lot of filler.
If I remember, the sonics of that LP were superb.... The supporting musicians behind the R&B group where top notch.
Go for a greatest hits since both of these bands put out a lot of schlock. My first alcohol, other than Passover wine? Gene was drinking between numbers and offered me a swig. I was 15.
