I knew if I read Joe Boyd's book it would force me to stalk rare and unobtainable things. Well, it started. This film , sez Joe, has an incredible performance by Pink Floyd in it...plus a bunch more. I cannot find an American spec DVD of it....anyone know more?
Thanks ahead of time...
Follow Ups:
I went and tried today and although I hadn't seen the DVD for a year I thought maybe some slight trace might remain... no.
THe CD? Pink Floyd: Live In London 1966... not currently available.
I should have snapped them up... curiously one shop used to have about 10mcopies and they sat in the rack for months... so someone somewhere may have them now.
Though they may not have played in my region....
I am not convinced that at least the CDs were actually sold.
This chain has several branches round Brisbane and while they say no one has the discs in stock I may pop into a few of them and check the sale bins.
I should have picked up the TLAMLIL when I got my copy of the "Syd Barrett And The Pink Floyd Story" DVD which is a very good trawl through the past with some footage of the band very very early playing to a proto light show, interviews with other people and as a bonus, an hour of talking to RW about the band and Syd.
The soundtrack album is almost worth the $150-200 or so it goes for now, simply on the basis of "Winter is Blue" by Vashti Bunyan, one of the most beautiful folk songs of the 1960s, by anyone. No lie. Boyd also produced her first album, which is a jewel and goes for... slightly more.
The DVD was knocking around last year for $10Au.
There is a CD called Pink Floyd Live In London or somesuch which has their music from the film.
I think.
I will see what I can find on Sunday...
