Anyone know which of Maria Muldaur's records has a bluesy song with this phrase in the lyrics? I heard it for the SECOND time in the past few weeks while driving in the car, but was not able to hang on to catch the title. If anyone could also ante up a title or two of Maria's best records, sonically, musically, it would be much appreciated.
Follow Ups:
And it's one of the all time best records ever: "Pottery Pie" with
her husband Geoff Muldaur. Regards,
It's on one of the old Jim Kweskin albums, Geoff does a nice guitar part in the middle. It's a Missippi John Hurt tune.
My favorite song by her, a naughty girl. Regards,
It is interesting to compare Muldaur's recording of "Please Don't Be That Way" (from HOT CLUB OF SAN FRANCISCO) with the great Ella Fitgerald's (from TAKE LOVE EASY on XRCD). Now, it's almost unfair to compare anyone with Ella, considered by many THE finest interpreter of popular songs and perhaps the greatest single voice in the history of popular music. And I have to admit, the Fitgerald rendition is an exemplar. But Maria's is the one that brings a smile to my face, with its exquisite vocal mannerisms and sense of style.
