There's a new book out called "Sounds Like Teen Spirit" that compares well-known songs and the "inspiration" (to be kind) for them. Dazed and Confused and Stairway to Heaven were absolutely STOLEN!!! I heard clips of each and was shocked. I can't remember the original artists, (no one can!) but they sure got ripped off.

And apparently, the fact the intro was "borrowed" (or to some, "stolen") is more-widely known than I thought, and most people don't think it's that big of a deal.....
"Black Mountainside" is a great piece, but it is just his version of Bert Jansch's "Black Waterside". A complete plagiarism, down to the title, but Paige gave himself credit for the song on Led Zep I.
one more example of what I was trying to say. Thanks.
Black Waterside is based on an old Irish Celtic song with lyrics. Jansch developed the beautiful guitar piece, and credits on his Jack Orion album are listed as "traditional, arranged by Jansch".
Paige left the lyrics out, put his signature (very nicely) on Janschs guitar piece, changed the title to "Black Mountainside" and took full credit.Gordon Giltrap has also performed "Black Waterside" on his tribute album to Jansch called "Janschology" - another very nice version. Giltrap credits "traditional, arranged by Jansch".
Paige admits he sort of copied the song in Guitar Player Magazine here:
Origin of Led Zeps Black Mountainside

Forgot to mention that the Annie Briggs guitar arrangement bears little similarity to bert Jansch's arrangement, which is the one that everyone seems to use. I'm not sure why Paige mentions her version having "the riff" in Guitar Player, when the one he copied is 90% Jansch's.
