weeks, and some time since I here panned it, I once again listened to Guided by Voices, "Bee Thousand."
Excellent. Quirky. Original. This last trait is what caused my original reaction. I was wrong.
Later, I cued up Unrest's "Imperial." Also very enjoyable.
It has occurred so much in the past I don't know why I rushed to judgment: new music doesn't initially impress but familiarity breeds respect, admiration, love.
Next up, a closer listen to Brian Wilson's stuff...

I sometimes have to listen to a songwriting style that is new to me a few times before I can internalize what the artist is doing. The good thing is that you were willing to make the effort, and openminded enough to learn from it.Oh, and Bee Thousand is a classic. :)
