Reminds me of Bruckner.... Reminds me of Boston.... Reminds me of Dream Theater.... Reminds me of late Rush....
Follow Ups:
Personally, I like Rush in all its phases. Great musicians. I agree that from about Signals on every album has some clunkers. However, some songs I thought were clunkers sound great live; it was just the production I didn't like. I thought Vapor Trails was a fabulous comeback. Love One Little Victory and Earthshine. Love the darker tone. Hated the awful mastering job with clipped peaks. Hopefully this was fixed for the new album. As for the Live album stuff - if I see another take of Tom Sawyer on video, I'll scream. I'd rather see them do completely different sets.
I honestly tried to get into Vapor Trails, but I just can't. Even now after two shows (around the Live in Rio era and the R30), I still get the urge to go to get some popcorn or a drink when they break into Earthshine or one of the newer tracks. For me, REAL Rush ended around Moving Pictures and sounded the true end with Signals (although both are still my faves).
I may buy it, but I will see the tour just because of that nasty rumour that NP doesn't want to tour anymore!

Rush's biggest plus right now is concerts. And live recordings. Mainly for the classics. "Spirit of Radio", "Tom Sawyer", "Red Barchetta", "Subdivisions" etc. ..... (As I said, I don't remember any song on "Vapor Trails" besides the title track.)When I heard that single, I was hoping for something that seemed fresh. Kind of like the Who's single, which I had the opposite reaction. An overture of what I think is the greatest rock release in a LONG time. I was hoping Rush could do the same, but its single didn't trigger that kind of hope.
To me, I thought Rush was really onto something with Signals, and remained that way until Power Windows.... It seemed like NP's imagnitive songwriting hit the wall after that, and has never really recovered. (I think most rock artists run out of ideas. Some after two albums, others after 20. Peart's run was a good one, but not a great one, in this regard.)

The issue is the music has become stale. The last three studio albums basically sound the same. The live stuff is still great because of the old and middle stuff, but the recent studio offerings of Rush really have not done much for me. It's as if the music has been lobotomized or something.Maybe the sonics will be better. And the actual album may have some surprises. I hope so.
It's like I cannot even remember a song title from Vapor Trails, aside from the title track. And I don't remember the name of the studio release before Vapor Trails.

Sales-wise, I believe most or all of their 'albums' have gone 'platinum', just by 'word of mouth' alone! They're very original and respected around the world. 'Nuff said.

I didn't realize it was "word of mouth" that put Britney on top....
