Big deal, as far as sound. It still sounds like it was recorded on a cassette recorder. I do not see any "From the orignal master tapes" on it either. It does have four new songs, 2 live and 2 studio. A good album, but sonically very disappointing.
Follow Ups:
besides the sitting for my love piece of drek.
I always thought the remastered CD sounded fine on my system. The remastered Welcome to the Canteen, to me, sounds like it was recorded on a cassette recorder, but I knew that before I bought it, so I can't complain. I do like Barleycorn alot.
Agreed. Disappointed.I have the record - it's not a sonic marvel by the way, not like "Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory" was - and this is the only CD I've heard, and it is weak. But many remasters are poor, with excessive compression and high levels.
It does not depend though on your catch cry - "From the orignal master tapes" - they can get those tapes and still ruin it.
I love the album - thanks for reminding me. Time to look for an original pressing of the CD, maybe made in Japan or WG.
Regards,
Geoff
woudl be like Welcome to the Canteen. And I only liked psychedelic traffic\folky traffic. Rock and Roll Stew left me unsatisfied.
