to the music of the moment?
Tough one to answer for myself. Usually a good beer or white Burgundy. Once in a blue moon or two a shot of Tequilla or single malt. It also depends on the two varitables....music and emotional state.
Sometimes it is better to take a deep breath and.....hold....it....in.
Follow Ups:
I kid you not.
a good red wine/ amaretto/ grand marnier/ or a good port.
You guys are lucky you can still drink. Had to give that up years ago.
2 shots Brugal anejo rum in a tall glass, seltzer water, twist of fresh lime & splash of pink grapefruit juice.
Classical - Single Malt Scotch WhiskeyJazz - Red Wine
Rock - Beer
"Rock - Beer"THAT explains why I like beer so much....LOL!!!
Cheers,
2 shots of a reposado or anejo tequila, a shot of Patron or Luna orange liqueur (or Cointreau if yer a lawyer or a plumber), double shot of On The Border Margarita mixer, juice of one medium lime, light salt on a lime juiced rim, lots of rocks in a big ol 16 oz insulated metal coffee mug.
...........have U tried Don Eduardo tequila? It is one of THE best/smoothest Tequilas' I have ever had the pleasure of drinking.
Yes it is spendy but U will know as soon as your first drink as to why :-)
That is not to say that Patron is average as it is nothing of the sort but for a very exquisite Tequila perspective...........check it out.
Cheers and happy imbibing,~kenster
Too many excellent tequilas, too little time. But there is enough time time to try El Conquistador, a very rich, buttery, smooth tequila and, one of my favorites, Chinaco, a spicy, very full tequila. Both are very different, but very good on the palate.
of Sauza Anejo Commemorativo (yea, I know) so I'll keep the Don Eduardo in mind. Problem is, with the really good stuff, I tend to have a couple cause they're so FREEKIN good and then before I know it, it's time for another $40
Try the Patron Anejo.
2x shot at the bar, $18. Rim of the glass rubbed with lime, that's it. Pretty f'ing good!
2 shots Patron Silver (no substitutions allowed)
+
2 parts Fresh Lime juice (squeezed from organic limes from Whole Foods)
+
A little splendaShaken in a martini shaker with ice shavings, poured into a chilled martini glass (no salt) over more ice shavings.
As my 25-year-old son and only child (Corporal in the USMC) says, "Mom, your "To Kill Ya" cocktail is the absolute best!
I don't get to indulge in these very often but they are worth it when I get the chance!
DDM
We get our limes at Whole Foods as well. Not on an organic kick or anything, but Hell, they are just flat out loaded with juice.
..........during listening sessions but there is a killer local micro-brew here in NM that has the best beer I've ever had the pleasure of drinking.....Red Rye.......yum :-)Cheers and happy listening,
~kenster
Yes! I love that place! great beer and pizza, I like the stout that they make and the red rye is wonderful. It's even beautiful just to look at!You ever been to the High Desert Brewery down in Las Cruces? They make some really good beers too, Oktoberfest, Steam, peach wheat. gona hafta get a growler or two!
Hey Rick,Where do U live?
I have only passed thru Los Cruses on my way to El Paso which turned out to be the biggest disappointment of my life.
Was hoping to capture some of that famous Texas lifestyle but ended up with a mouth full of oil so to speak. The air down there reaks of oil and one cannot escape that. Even the steak houses down there leave ALOT to be desired.
Happy as hell in Rio Rancho,
hey kenster ,I live in Las Cruces, it's pretty much like Rio Rancho. Not too big not too small, well, Rio is probably going to explode soon with all the movie studios being built there!
Yeah, El Paso is technically Texas, geographicaly, but it is pretty much Mexico. there is an oil refinery right smack in the middle of town, that should explain the oil smell!
I love Las Cruces, but it's good to go up north to Burque every once and a while. you guys get all the good concerts!
"I live in Las Cruces, it's pretty much like Rio Rancho. Not too big not too small, well, Rio is probably going to explode soon with all the movie studios being built there!"U ain't kiddin there!! With the completion of the new Event Center out here, I envision that within 10 years, we will be another Pheonix!! I cannot believe the urban growth here, especially the high end housing market.
Next time your up this way, give me a shout and I'll buy U a Red Rye at Turtle :-)
Cheers and take care,
nt
all the best,

Concannon is a good one....
Hogue 2003 Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington is supposed to be a highly rated and excellent value Cabernet. Looking to try a bottle soon.
"Hogue 2003 Genesis Cabernet Sauvignon"That name rings a bell.... I think it was in a tapered bottle and a brown label....
I think I am in agreement with the tequila. Sometimes a nice Syrah,or a beer, or possibly even a girly drink (given the weather and mood)will accompany a listen to the old two channel. But some breathing excercizes are almost always involved when the stereo and I have a date.
With the appropriate combustibles of course. And perhaps a dab of
caviar, say, golden Ossetra (the Shah's favorite). Regards,
x
with the occasional, seasonal, ice cube...

yes yes we drink white wine much colder than the "offical" temperature of around 11C here but it so hot room temperature is meaningless concept if your room is, as last night, 28C and 76% humidity at 10.30pm.
Recently its been filtered water.
I used to like bourbon for blues. Dickell. Definitely George Dickell.
strong... I HATE Alcohol.
I use Ruta Maya dark roast. It's from a 13 farm co-op in the Yucatan and roasted in Austin TX. Shipped to the stores here in Weatherford the beans are still nice and oily.Grind fresh, use good water and presto! The perfect dark cup of coffee!
thanks for the tip, we'll be looking for it (Dallas here). BTW, my son worked in Weatherford for a couple of years.
