Good God, whatta talent. For 7 years I've been surfing music sites and it's been worth it if for no other reason than discovering Lucinda via another music bored. I'm not sure if she's _really_ broken through, with the masses at least, but certainly has with the critics. Her one big hit, Passionate Kisses, maybe was covered better by Mary Chapin Carpenter and possibly her minor hit, Sweet Old World, was covered better by EmmyLou. But damn, whatta freekin great songrwiter. Her voice could be considered an acquired taste, by some at least, but once you get over that hump it's goosebump time. And what melodies to accompany the lyrics. I think it's World Without Tears on 2LP tonight. Wife hates her FWIW.
Follow Ups:
than the hit version by MC Carpenter. Btw, Lucinda has moved out here and her new cd, "West" is a killer.

Decent songwriter, fair artist. Don't get the hype, but then I don't get most of the Americana hype these days
your assertion that "Sweet Old World" was better covered by Emmylou. I adore Emmylou, but her version is just a little too pretty. Lucinda's version will break your heart.
