Should PHP simply be a place where one side of the debate is discussed? I would think it would soon become a very lonely place. But is that what the objectivists and scientists want PHP to be - a place where nothing is challenged? Hard to pick up new ideas that way, and that is why I come to PHP instead of, say, the cable forum. But perhaps the point of this forum isn't to exchange ideas between the two disparate sub/ob pov's.If it's simply that you don't like Posy's methods, then I'd have to say you either haven't been at PHP long or you haven't been paying attention! There's more insultation going on here from both sides than there is good info (usually). If you're comfortable with your own POV, why take the insults seriously? Consider the source and move on.
Follow Ups:
(I quote some tw*t of a poster -- fill in your own vowel, I'll leave the gender up for grabs, a la Austin...)Odd, very odd, the selection of those (us) three to represent the beyond-the-fringe elements who should be avoided by all "scientific" types.
John Curl is a respected designer who has (I believe) a physics degree; at any rate he is conversant with many technical fields outside audio.
Geoff Kait was a senior mathematician with NASA and a satellite system engineer for FAA and DOD.
Clark Johnsen (ahem) has a degree in Applied Physics and over two decades experience in optical engineering and research. Also he is a "Lifetime Member" of the Audio Engineering Society.
One might think that those are the *very sort* of people this forum is intended for -- but no, they are to be shunned. Why? Because their views are seen as UNORTHODOX.
Ossified inmates can't tolerate the limber!

PS And now, a glance at some, ah, scientific utterances from our antagonists (gleaned with just three search words):

...next to Geoff Kait that is.

Well, you obviously make them uncomfortable! They may have to do some testing and look forward rather than backward. As a non-scientific type, I guess I don't deserve the ire you subjectivist technicians get. I'm just classified as "gullible" or in one side-splitting incident, a "believer"... as if there's anyone who doesn't believe in something! I believe in my own experiences and I chuckle softly and shake my head at those who don't...and wonder how they manage to tie their own shoes in the morning. I can't imagine such a life.
But still, this is a technical discussion site. Perhaps it's best left to technical discussions rather than non-technical ones made by technicians and non-technicians alike? That's the heart of my query. Would the objectivists simply prefer to be left alone on this forum? The rest of us could still "lurk" if we found ourselves short on laughs! :) But I guess if we could all just laugh at the opposing side rather than engage in namecalling, we wouldn't have a problem.
Why don't the ossifieds migrate over there?"Would the objectivists simply prefer to be left alone on this forum?" No, because look at Tech Square, their proper home: It's dead dead dead. They feed on "controversy", although really, among those of us who *listen* there is no controversy.
Prop Head has become very much a place where *metatech* is discussed. For some reason this annoys the stiffs, who repeatedly albeit futilely assert their gatekeeper roles.
We fortunate others are left standing in the fertile fields of hypothesis.
Clark, how did you get selected as a lifetime member of the AES? I had to fight to get to be a lifetime member of the IEEE, but it seems that the AES is more difficult. (Member of the AES for more than 40 years).
