I have an old nagra 3 that needs power (other than batteries)I need to talk to some soul with this set to figure the input polarity.
are there any users out there?

Yup. -I have 2 x Nagra IV and 1 x Magra 3. -they all have the same threaded-surround DIN connector for power. -Is this the same as the version that you have?Keith A.
yes Keith, a 6 pin DIN (5+center). my test meter reads -18volt on pin 1 (grounded to case) when battery powered. I would have expected +18volt so I am nervous that I may reverse polarity with a home-brew power set up.I have no schematics so I wonder if you could test or tell me the power in pin specs (supply 18V pos. or neg. on pin 1, and ground to case or pin 2?) on your AC adapter.
I have serched up and down Google for service documentation but have found nil.
thanks,
simon
Okay... let me look it up. I'll have to dig a bit!Keith A.
Yup! -Negative 12V to negative 30V is the acceptable voltage range according to the sheets. -Also, don't try to use the external with batteries still loaded in the machine, as too much of a voltage dofference will apparently pull the battery fuses...Here's a question... -How come they have three battery fuses in series? -That always puzzled me! Each of the three banks of batteries has a fuse in line, but the three banks are wired in series, so....
Well, that's the Swiss for you!
Keith A.
