What model is it? If its a Fender M-80 series amp (ANY version), these had bad (read: SERIOUS!) problems with the channel switcing FETs inside them, as well as a piss poor output stage (no loads under 4 ohms!).
Any other fender models (tube), Try finding Steve Oda here at the site. He is s MASTER with Amplifiers!

P-neck,Gotta know the model number. But, it sounds like own of those CBS or post-CBS era "marvels."
J-FETs and other SS goodies can still be found or bypassed. Does your reverb unit have a tank or is it circuit delay? Tanks sometimes do this when the little transformers on the tank, itself start to go funky.

Thanks for the help! It's a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (1998 vintage or so)...with a reverb tank.
Sorry, for the late response. Is the tank driven by a tube and impedance? Or by a separate IC circuit? I've heard that some of the re-issued Fender use not-so-good IC's.I'm not up on J-FET's and such, but I do know someone who is. If you have a schematic, email it to me. I'll forward it to this guy and see what he says.
There was a time between the original re-issue Bassman and today's re-issues that some of the amps had reliablitiy problems related to the solid state components.
