I wonder if anyone can help. We are looking to replace the speakers we have in our pub. We currently play MP3s from a computer through a mixer, into 2 amplifiers (a Denon AVC 1570 & Marantz PM4200) then through to 6 JBL 1XTREME speakers. The problem is that the present set-up is scratchy & tinny. It may be because the speakers are 4 years old & have suffered a considerable amount of abuse, it may be because the MP3s themselves play that way.
The space is about 50 feet by 20 feet with plastered walls, wooden floors & a 15 foot high ceiling. I’d like to get a similar number of speakers with perhaps a bass component. We’d probably be better off with Japanese products (as we are in Japan).
Any advice much appreciated,

What's the purpose of the music? Background music for noise masking or Loud music for Ambience. Watch out for loud music - hearing loss risk for employees if the average A-weighted SPL goes above 85dB. That's still pretty loud and you can get away with a little more bass in the signal that way. Yamaha Installation Series has some smaller speakers (Like IS2208) to spread out around the room that can be supplemented by a sub if you need additional bottom end. 6 of those could easily drive a room your size....
If you are in a bar situation then go with pro audio loudspeakersI would suggest four of these JBL cabinets
JBL JRX112M 12" 2-Way
(click the link below)
You can mount them up on a wallI installed these up high in a pub and they worked very well
and will give you much better soundTry installing these four JBL speakers first
If you decide you want more bass then go with a powered JBL
subwoofer
You can also view this model at the same website I have given you
The subwoofer model is #JBL JRX118SP 18" Powered SubwooferIm sure you can purchase all of these in Japan or worldwide
