A pox on your house! Posting that link to eBay just got me outbid at $50 more than anyone else ever has paid for that DAC! Oh, well. I hope the guy offers another one soon. :(

Sorry didn't mean to get you outbid. Since the maker only puts the items up for sale on Ebay..I posted the link. You should try contacting Lin li. He does sell the DACs without going through Ebay. Which is how I've purchased two of the units I've bought..directly from the designer himself.
Hey, it's okay. Was just having a bit of fun with ya. I looked back over the eBay completed auction listings and see that the maker puts these up every week or so. I'll just wait for next time, but I suspect that the endosements on these forums have upped the ante permanently. (And, I confess, I learned of this product through someone else's earlier post in the PC Audio Forum, so it's not as though I had a monopoly on the bidding.) Wish me luck with the next auction!
Well good luck to you then.:-) Which model are you after by the way?
The Constantine. I am more of a solid state kinda guy than one who enjoys living with tubes, and I have a Musical Fidelity X-10v3 that I can patch into the signal path if I need some tube warmth.
Cool...understood Mike. The Paradisea really doesn't give you tube warmth. It is more about solidity and weight in the midrange. other than the density of the midrange this DAC sounds more solid state than tube.
I was able, finally, to win an auction for a Constantine USB at "my" price and it arrived last week. I brought it to the office this morning and it is now in my office system. I mated it with a Zu Bok power cord and run it out through my Musical Fidelity X-10v3.Immediately, I notice that it has a gazillion times the gain of my M-Audio USB and I have to keep throttling back so my colleagues don't kill me. It's been in use about two hours now and the sound is both brighter and more "detailed" than the M-Audio, but not much airier. There also is more bass, which may be due mostly to the power cord, which can be pretty "bassy." I suspect that is a limitation of the sources (thus far only MP3) and the current speakers (Klipsch iFi). I expect things to change as the DAC and cord break in and as I switch over time to FLAC on an external drive. I might also disconnect the tube buffer to see if that makes things better or even "different." For now, though, I am encouraged by what I've heard from a product that is a couple of hours old.
